Transport To and Leaving School

There are regulations for transporting children to school:

K-2 children are conveyed free by passenger bus, irrespective of the distance from school to home, subject to certain conditions.

Conveyance by private car less than 1.6 km does not qualify for free travel.

Children who are conveyed by private vehicle in excess of 1.6 km can also claim a subsidy under certain conditions. This applies to parents who convey children from home to the bus stop or from home to school provided there is no means of bus transport available.

If there is room on charter buses, children who live less than 1.6 km may travel in the bus but they will be expected to pay a fee.

3-6 - Children who live move than 1.6 km from school by the nearest practicable walking route are eligible for free transport to schools.

A separate application form is required for each student. Forms are available from the bus operators.

Year 3 children who were eligible for FREE TRANSPORT whilst they were K-2, are no longer eligible, unless they live more than 1.6 km from the school.

Students who travel by bus are not permitted to go to the corner shop before or after school. They are expected to go directly from their bus to school where supervision is available.
